Diapers
Thankfully, the water came on earlier than was originally forecasted yesterday, so I was able to get laundry moving again. But I'm starting to rethink our diaper situation for David.
So either he is dangerously pushing the edge of needing the next size up in diapers, or I need to shop around for a better brand. The White Cloud brand diapers that worked fine for Anna are just not cutting it lately for David, as evidenced by my ever-growing baby-boy-laundry piles. I think I may have to stop being a cheapskate on diapers for a little while until he grows out of the newborn exploding diaper age to save my sanity. Pampers worked well when we had one bag of them a couple months ago. I wonder if it's worth the money though, since they cost almost double what the generic and White Cloud diapers do. What do you use? And did you need to change brands for different kids as they came along?
Help me! We're getting dangerously close to just skipping the clothes altogether to prevent the inevitable outfit-changing (do boys even wear "outfits", or is that too girly a term?) at least once or twice a day. Poor little innocent guy...

According to Brandon, the term "outfits" is a girly term.
If he is having a quite a few blow-outs it sounds like he needs to go up a size.
We have used Huggies with all our kids. For me it was worth my sanity not to have blow-outs. I tried the cheaper ones and it wasn't worth it.
We do like costco diapers and will get those if someone is going to go to costco and offers to buy them for us(we would pay them back). We don't have a membership to costco, so we don't go.
It may not even be that you need more expensive diapers- just a different brand. The diapers I loved best, pampers, ended up not being the best bet for my particular baby's body- so we get huggies from costco instead. Reduced blow-outs by 90%. But I know other people that have blow-out problems with huggies, so it just depends on the baby.
Huggies always worked best for us! When Rem started having more blow outs it was usually cause he needed to go up a size.
Huh, I haven't tried Huggies yet. And we do have a Costco membership! Now why haven't I thought to buy diapers there yet? You're probably right, Jen, and he just needs a different brand. I think I need to experiment a little.
I tend to use generic brands when they get older but use Huggies or Pampers when they are little and blowing out lots. I think it helps, but it sure hits on the pocketbook. And yes, they still will have blow outs in Huggies too, but it seemed like it was less often.
I use Luvs on both kids. Pampers leaked like crazy on Audrey. Nate is in a size 3, on the verge of going up to 4. Audrey is in a 5 for comparison. These big boys of ours just need bigger diapers!
I have to say I agree with Natalie. Every time Alex started getting too many blow-outs I went up a size and that was the end of it. It's that way no matter what brand.
I use target brand diapers. They are cheaper than the Costco ones and work better for us. When kiddo was really little we used pampers for the first month or so, but the smell bothered me so we switched pretty quick. Kiddo wasn't a big pooper, though, so we never had big blowout problems.
You can try Huggies, but I just bought a big box of them myself and we are having about 4 blowouts with poopy clothes a day. I am switching back to pampers when the Huggies are gone. I think they are much more absorbent. I agree though. It probably depends on the baby.
I LOVE Pampers Swaddlers. They really work well and I totally think they are worth the money. I like Huggies too, but mostly when they are older. I have heard Luvs work great too but I have never tried them. Good luck!
What a great post! I love reading what other people have to say. I use the Costco brand. I think that Huggies smell like pee :) I have used Luvs before too and they seem to work great. But, I really love the Costco ones. Jordyn is in a size 5 and Tessa is still in a size 2. Costco brand only has size 1-2 and then 3 so for Tessa we are still using Huggies. The size 1-2 only goes up to 15 pounds and the Huggies size 2 goes up to 18 pounds. Sorry, this was long...and hopefully you can understand what I'm talking about.
